Reaction To Clone

On our second day of filming we had to use an immense amount of teamwork and this required alot of effort. Using our determination we managed to use special camera effects which were done by our specialist editor Aaron Virdi. We also used different camera angles for example we used "point of view" to make our audience/target market feel like they were in the film itself.

Our first shot was the over the shoulder shot, this made the audience recognise who was the protagonist and the victim. Showing the 2 clones over the shoulder shot, made it effective as it symbolised the great danger the victim was in. Aaron created the clones by filming at each side of the camera and using a special programme. He explains this in a previous post which is posted on my blog below.

The next shot of the scene is a medium shot, this is where "Wayne" (Sim Grewall) is encountered by the clones, it clearly states who the protagonist is. After this there is a fall, this shows the facial expressions on Wayne's face.

The final shot is where Wayne wakes up and the camera shot is a point of view shot, this shows the audience what Wayne is going through. Wayne gets up and is encoutered by a punch by a third clone.

The eyes on the clone change from brown to red- which symbolises death, danger - to blue which symbolises anxiety and evil, to green which sybolises amusement.

Aaron Virdi Our Specialist Editor Explains How To Do The Demonic Face

When editing the faces of the clones i wanted to use advanced media techniques to make them scary. I also used this technique will Tyga's face to make him scary.

First i filmed the clone footage and loaded up the clips on Adobe after effects

Then i inserted a new adjustment layer and masked the face of the character

I then used the colour balance tool to change the colour of the face. As you can see from the image below, I repeated the previous steps with the eyes, blood camouflage lines and trees.

I then used the stopwatch tool to change the opacity of the mask and fade it in with the characters

Lastly I feathered the colours to make them more realistic and frightening.

To finish the video, i exported the video to avi format and cut it into the scene.

How I Did The Makeup On Characters

To make our characters scary Aysha Rajpoot (the make up artist) used her make up skills to give Tyga a realistic and quite frightening appearance. The video below shows the process and Aysha explains what she is trying to achieve.

Bloopers And Fun Moments

Here are some fun moments that we had during our time filming. Also contains some directing.

Aaron Virdi Our Specialist Editor Explains How To Do The Clone Effect

The program i used for the cloning technique was Adobe After Effects. The reason i did not used Final Cut Pro was because i was familiar with the available tools and effects. I found After effects more user friendly and it gave me a wider range of tools to work with. Below is the steps.

First i took two shots of me walking to the camera in two different positions (left and right). It was imperative that the camera did not move as the effect would be ruined otherwise. The movement seen in the chase sequence is a effect used.

I then loaded up After Effects and imported both videos. I then clicked the first clip and used the mask tool to choose the range of the character. The yellow square on the picture shows the mask tool and the character range. The mask tool allows the two character to be fused into one video. The still camera allows this to happen as the background is the same for both shots. I timed the two shots to make it look like the clones jumped at the same time.

I then feathered the mask out to make sure it was not visible in the clip, without feathering it would be obvious that the clips were split because there would be a line through the middle of the shot.

Lastly, i exported the clip into avi format and edited in with the other clips using Final Cut Pro and Movie Maker.
